In response to the call of the 37th Student Mental Health Promotion Month of CCNU, while integrating humanistic care and psychological guidance for students into the whole process of ideological and political work, mental development activities for ethnic minority students was launched by the “Xinli Youshu” workshop of the School of Mathematics and Statistics on the morning of May 22. Remila, the full-time counselor of the Department of Academic Work for Ethnic Minorities, Zhang Luyang, the instructor of the workshop, and 24 students from various ethnic groups attended the activity.

At the beginning of the event, Zhang Lu Yang introduced the background of the activity of the Mental Health Promotion Festival to the students, hoping that they could care for their own mental health, pay attention to their own mental spiritual growth, improve their own mental quality, and then take care of others and the society. After that, the moderator explained the game rules, including “Fun of Miao kids” of kicking shuttlecock, “March Forward Courageously”, “One Circle to the End”, “Mind Acts Upon Mind”, and “Race on Running and Jumping”, with points awarded for the completion of each game, and one who spent the shortest time would be awarded higher points. After random grouping, members of the four groups got to know each other and discussed group names and slogans, brainstorming ideas to increase their familiarity with each other.

In the game of “Fun of Miao kids” of kicking shuttlecock, team members were requested to work together to kick the shuttlecock ten times in a row, at least once each. The game "One Circle to the End" required all members of the group to join hands in a circle and make the hula hoop pass through everyone's body without stopping and return to the original position. The game "Mind Acts Upon Mind" tested the tacit understanding among the group members, with questions concerning traditional ethnic minority festivals, which allowed the students to have fun and at the same time improve their understanding of ethnic minority customs. The game " Race on Running and Jumping " required the team members to relay ping pong balls with spoons on a 10-metre track. The atmosphere was lively and full of laughter as students worked together. During the activity, students used their team wisdom to pass each level, enhancing their friendship through the communication and exchange.

Finally, the host announced the scores of each group and awarded souvenirs to the top two groups. At that point, the mental health development activities for ethnic minority students came to a successful conclusion. The activity promoted communication among minority students, brought them closer to each other, and helped them to release the pressure in their study and life, guiding them to form a positive mental quality and optimistic attitude.
