Accumulate Strength for Cultivating High-level and International Talents|The “Turn Languages into Our Wings” Plan Aiming at Improving the Students’ Ability to Deal with International Affairs Which was Proposed by School of Foreign Languages Was launched

To thoroughly implement the basic task to foster virtue through education, broaden the students’ international vision as well as professional knowledge and cultivate more international talents who can be competent for international affairs, School of Foreign Languages officially launched the “Turning Languages into Our Wings” plan which aimed at hoisting students’ capacity to handle international affairs on March 2, 2022. The vice-principle of CCNU, Peng Shuangjie, the deputy secretary of CPC, Chen Diming, the principle of the Undergraduate Program, Wan Jian, the director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, Hong Feng, Ding Yubin who worked at the Section of Recruitment and Employment of Student Affairs Department of Party Committee, the secretary of School of Foreign Languages CPC, Li Yun, the dean, Luo Lianggong, the deputy secretary of CPC, Yang Lingzhen, the vice-president, Wang Yong, Cao Bin, Wang Jiayu and Wang Jia, the chairman of Japanese Department, Li EXian, the director of Russian Department, Liu Yonghong, the head of French Department, Yang Fen, the manager of the Center for Translation and Communication Studies, Su Yan, the vice director of Spanish Department, Wang Jiannan, the teacher of Korean Department, Li Wenhua and teachers as well as students representatives and directors from all majors attended this activity. The event was hosted by the College Deputy secretary of CPC, Yang Lingzhen.

                     


TheTurn Languages into Our Wings” plan aiming at improving the students’ ability to deal with international affairs focused on three parts which consisted of enhancing capability of international communication, cultivating foreign-related talents who knew rule of law well and being interns as well as working for the international organizations. What was more, it devoted itself to exploring resources in four fields, which included the dissemination of news, the rule of law concerning foreign affairs, international organizations and diplomatic services. In addition, it also accumulated strength for cultivating high-level and international talents who had a good command of not only foreign languages but also professional knowledge and skills through setting up a practice terrace with two dimensions which were holding all forms of foreign languages competitions at all levels and promoting social practice and voluntary service, innovating training mode and integrating resource superiority.

 


After that, the School of Foreign Languages hold the first big rostrum of the Turn Languages into Our Wings” plan aiming at improving the students’ ability to deal with international affairs. The supervisor of UNESCO higher education innovation center project, who was also our school alumni, Feng Siyuan held the post of being a keynote speaker of phase one. The lecture themed on “The UNESCO was in China”, based on the development history of UNESCO, analyzed the role played by China in the present and its international influence to further look forward to the future, in the meantime, revealed demand for professionals caused by the development of international organizations and employment opportunities for contemporary youth.


 

He pointed out the current situation of Chinese talent shortage in international organizations through showing the percentage and distribution of Chinese youth talent in all the international organizations. Then, he appealed to the students present to establish lofty ideals, have constancy of purpose whose concrete content was the whole world is one community to turn themselves into foreign language talents who were “ready-to-use” and fight for national diplomacy tirelessly. When being faced with “what was the key accomplishment” “how to apply for a job in international organizations combining with self major” and some other questions raised by the students, Feng Siyuan said: “ As students who studied foreign languages, we should be brave to go beyond language roles, set our majors aside, learn and master multiple skills to lay a solid foundation of our professions as well as improve our own qualities.”

 

 

 

In the future, the School of Foreign Language will guided by CCNU unceasingly, focus on the needs of the country and internation, accumulate strength for the country and be in line with international standards with scientific methods, professional attitude and cutting-edge ideas to develop subject education with outstanding specialized characteristic, cultivate talent for national diplomacy and tell Chinese stories well!
