Youth Association Chronicle | Riding the Olympic Boat, Traveling with the Olympics

The Youth Volunteers Association of CCNU On March 14th, 8 volunteers from the Zhongnan Road Sunshine Home Volunteer Group of the Youth Volunteers Association of School of Information Management of Central China Normal University gathered in the conference room 10001 of the South lake Comprehensive Building to carry out the second volunteering activity of the semester by live online. During this volunteer service process, the volunteers used the theme of "Beijing Winter Olympics" to promote the positive spirit of the Winter Olympic athletes to the students of Zhongnan Road Sunshine Home, answered questions online, and led the students to do physical exercise.


Before the activity started, each volunteer gave a brief self-introduction, so that the trainees could have a preliminary understanding of the volunteers. Then, the volunteer activities officially began. Volunteers Hu Lei and Xie Yucan respectively introduced the short track speed skating and snowboard related competition information to the students, and watched the sports videos of the two competitions with the students of Zhongnan Road Sunshine Home. The volunteers also conveyed the great deeds of the 49-year-old veteran Pechstein in his 8th Winter Olympics, to pass on the tenacious spiritual connotation and the value character of never giving up in the face of setbacks to the students.

After introducing the short track speed skating competition, volunteer Xie Yucan began to introduce the athletes who emerged in the snowboard. In the snowboard competition, volunteer Xie Yucan introduced the past experiences of Su Yiming, who won the medals, and Max Parrott, who was a snowboarder. Borrowing the story of Su Yiming's suspension of his acting career to prepare for the skiing competition and Max Parrot's deeds of actively fighting cancer through skiing competitions and finally winning the world championship, to convey to the students a life attitude of concentration and never giving up. The students gave positive feedback and said they would uphold the positive character of hard work and perseverance.

After introducing the content of the relevant competitions, volunteer Wang Lu interacted with the trainees on the relevant experience of Athlete, solved their questions and asked about their feelings and gains. One of the trainees and volunteer Wang Lulianmai shared that she would work hard to learn the spirit of perseverance and glory for the country shown by athlete Gu Ailing in skiing. After the link the mic session, the volunteers and the students did online fitness exercises together to enhance their physical fitness. After the end of the exercise, the volunteers told the students that they should strengthen their physical fitness and temper their spirit even in the epidemic era.

Finally, the volunteers said goodbye to the students, and the volunteers took a group photo. Volunteers said: "Life is endless and struggle is endless. After that, we must also work hard to carry forward the positive spirit of perseverance and tenacity." During this volunteer activity, the students and volunteers learned about the spiritual connotation that shown by Olympic athletes in the competition, learned relevant Olympic knowledge, exercised the body, and promoted a positive attitude towards life.
