March 18, 2022 Lei Yumeng

On the morning of March 7, eight volunteers from the Ziyang Street Sunshine Home Volunteer Group of the School of Information Management of CCNU carried out their first volunteer activity of the semester in the form of a live class in the Conference Room 10042 of the South Lake Complex. The theme of this volunteer activity was to appreciate the style of the Winter Olympics and understand the spirit of the Winter Olympics.

Before the activity started, each volunteer gave a short self-introduction to let the participants have a preliminary understanding of the volunteers.

01 Volunteer Dou Haoyu shows the video to participants

The event then began with volunteer Dou Haoyu introducing the participants to China's achievements at the previous Winter Olympics, and then explaining the visually stunning and wonderful designs of the opening ceremony, such as the countdown to spring and the passing of the national flag from hand to hand, telling the participants the stories and meanings behind them and showing the elegance of the current Beijing Winter Olympics. In addition, volunteer Dou Haoyu also studied the video of director Zhang Yimou's interpretation of the story behind the snowflakes with the participants, and after gaining a deep understanding of the meaning of the snowflakes, he enjoyed the opening ceremony theme song "Snowflakes" with the participants and talked about the love of ice and snow together.

After enjoying the opening ceremony, volunteer Dou Haoyu introduced the participants to some of the high-tech products in the Winter Olympics, from the cooking robots in the Winter Olympics Village to the intelligent remote control beds, from the "fastest ice surface" created by technology to the speed skating competition suits that speed skating, to the 3D models created by 3D+AI technology for the big air. The green, technological and cultural flavor of the Winter Olympics has broadened the participants' horizons and enhanced their national confidence.

02 Volunteer Lin Changrong explains PPT to participants

After volunteer Dou Haoyu introduced the opening ceremony and the high-tech section, volunteer Lin Changrong told the participants the stories of champion athletes, such as Wu Dajing, who could not be stopped by setbacks, "talented girl" Eileen Gu, who won two gold and one silver medal, young and powerful Su Yiming, and veteran Xu Mengtao, who persevered and finally won the gold medal. Through their stories, the participants were encouraged to persevere and work hard to the end, learn the spirit of the Winter Olympics and enrich their lives. The volunteer, Lin Changrong, also told some interesting stories about the closing ceremony and the Winter Olympics, and summarised the day's learning, calling the participants to pay more attention to current affairs and keep pace with the times.
