The wind is soft in March，everything is rejuvenated and full of life. The 44th Arbor Day is coming. On March 11th, the school held a voluntary tree-planting activity concerning "Adding Green into the Side of South Lake to Celebrates 120th Anniversary of CCNU" in front of the South Lake Complex Building. Zhao Lingyun, the secretary of the Party Committee of CCNU, Hao Fanghua, the president of CCNU and other leaders of the party Committee of the organ, teachers and cadres of affiliated units, carrying tools such as shovels, hoes and buckets, went to South Lake campus to plant osmanthus trees.
The planting scene is very lively. After a simple division of labor, everyone was divided into groups with 3 to 5 persons, with tacit understanding, rolled up sleeves, waving the spade. Someone was digging the holes, someone was supporting the trees, someone was earthing up, some was watering...... Each link connected orderly, the scene presented a busy sight in full swing. Under the close cooperation of each procedures including planting trees, using shovels to earth up, 50 newly planted sweet-scented osmanthus trees stood erect in the wind by the South Lake, showing their vitality in the bright spring sunshine.
Zhao Lingyun, the secretary of party Committee of CCNU, said, "It takes ten years to grow trees, but a hundred years to cultivate people. Vegetation germinates, spring mountain is expected. Thanks to the hard work of all the teachers, students and 400,000 alumni, CCNU has developed rapidly from small to large and from weak to strong. Today, we plant both saplings and hope. In the future, we will strive to write a new chapter of high-quality development with greater enthusiasm.
"The osmanthus Mountain where the school is located is famous for its osmanthus trees, including jingui, yingui, dangui and laurel. There are more than 20,000 osmanthus trees on the mountain, most of which are more than 30 years old. Their scale and number are unique among colleges and universities in China. What today's shovel of soil planted is not only saplings, but also heritage; Today's bucket of water is watering both soil and dream." Hao Fanghua, the principal, said.
It is reported that in order to welcome the 120th school anniversary, in 2018, the university launched the "six schools" project with the core of "casting the soul of the school, writing the history of the school, building the school quality, gathering alumni, building the campus and establishing the school system". Since last year, the school have started or accelerated the infrastructure projects including the new college student activity center and the new patio spring canteen ,as well as completing the construction projects of new south gate of CCNU, part of the student dormitory maintenance, Guiyuan road widening and multiple canteens renovation, comprehensively improving the operating conditions, beautifying the campus environment, optimizing the education environment, and promoting the school’s quality. This year, CCNU has further carried out the construction of a green campus, creating a more beautiful environment for teachers, students and staffs to work, study and live, and welcoming home and abroad alumni back to CCNU. The school hopes to take this tree-planting activity as an opportunity to call on all teachers, students and staffs to actively participate in the series of activities of greening the campus, jointly build the "Great Beauty of CCNU", and make new contributions to the celebration of 120th anniversary.
Teachers and staffs participating in the tree planting activities have said that the spring comes early for people’s diligence, and it is the right time to cultivate. 120th anniversary of CCNU is approaching soon, the future work will continue to carry the high morale forward, strive for the construction of a world-class university with leading teacher education in the new journey, write new historical glory in the new era, and create,pursue and transcend the new brilliance.
