At 4:00 p.m. on July 22, in order to continuously improve the writing level and ability of postgraduates, School of Marxism specially invited Peng Bolin, the editor-in-chief of "Yunmeng Journal" and professor of Hunan Institute of Science and Technology, to make a special report on "Writing and Publishing Papers in Academic Journals" in the conference room on the second floor of the No. 1 teaching building. Long Jingyun, a second-level professor of School of Marxism, attended and presided over it, and associate professor Xue Hui and some PhD students and postgraduates participated.
In this lecture, Professor Peng mainly talked about the following four aspects: First, Professor Peng mainly expounded that academic journal papers must have the characteristics of standardization and rigor from two aspects: "academic is like the market" and "kung fu is beyond poetry"; Secondly, Professor Peng emphasized that "a good topic selection is half the battle". From the value principle, public principle, personal principle, inheritance principle, transcendence principle, reality principle, forward-looking principle of topic selection, he respectively discussed how to choose a good topic and the right topic. Thirdly, based on his own academic experience, Professor Peng described in detail the skills and methods of journal paper writing from ten aspects, including identifying the arguments, formulating the title, sorting out the literature, writing the introduction, arranging the structure, writing the abstract of the paper, selecting the good keywords. Finally, Professor Peng combined his own work experience in reviewing, proofreading and paper publishing, comprehensively described the techniques and precautions for submission from three aspects, including "Have a purpose, do what you like", "Grasp the timing of submission and increase sampling rate” and “Frequent participation in academic conferences”.
In the interactive session, teachers and students discussed other issues related to papers writing and publication. Among them, Dr. Jin Yiming asked Professor Peng about the submission and revision of the papers, and Professor Peng gave a detailed answer.
Finally, Professor Long Jingyun made a concluding speech for the lecture, and expressed his sincere thanks to Professor Peng for his presence and wonderful lecture. Teacher Long believed that the content of Professor Peng's lectures was systematic, comprehensive and detailed, which is of great help to students in how to write academic papers. He also hoped and encouraged students to enjoy reading, thinking diligently, and writing more, striving to continuously enhance their personal academic and scientific research capabilities through hard work.
During the lecture, the students who listened to the lecture were very serious and kept taking notes. After the lecture, the students said that the lecture was "full of dry goods", and it was such a comprehensive and systematic tutoring report on academic paper writing that they had rarely heard. This report was like a timely rain, providing important and valuable guidance for the students who are hungry and worried about writing scientific research papers or dissertations, which will benefit everyone a lot.
