On the afternoon of April 30, the sixth tutor afternoon tea activity hosted by the "truth seeking" learning and development center of the School of Marxism was held in the 217 Party member activity room of Building 1. Cui Weifeng, teacher of the School of Marxism, was invited to attend. At the beginning of the event, the host Li Mengting introduced the situation of the event and the teachers present, and then everyone raised their doubts, and Mr. Cui listened carefully and answered them one by one, discussing with the students about the direction of graduate school, future planning and professional study.
First of all, Yu Hongwei from ideological and political education major raised his doubts about the direction of graduate school and asked about the difficulty of studying for the philosophy major. Mr. Cui Weifeng suggested that from a personal point of view: if you only consider employment, there are more employment opportunities in the future by choosing the ideological and political education major; if you have the idea of going abroad or studying for a doctorate after the examination, The direction of postgraduate entrance examination is to consider their own interests as much as possible. In addition, Mr. Cui pointed out that it is difficult to learn philosophy, and it is difficult to understand some concepts, terms and ideological history background. To learn philosophy well, we should have systematic cultivation and training and work hard on knowledge reserve.
Then, Chen Chen, a student of grade 2019, asked a question: after studying philosophy, should I continue my study or choose employment? Mr. Cui Weifeng pointed out that after studying philosophy, further study is good for grasping the in-depth problems of philosophy, and it will be more in-depth for your research field. Relatively speaking, there is no specific career for philosophy, so students who take philosophy as their career and interest can try to continue their further study, but if it is just a hobby, they can read related books to satisfy their interest.
Zhou Zhifan, a student majoring in Marxist theory at grade 2021, had plans to further study in Hong Kong or abroad. Therefore, he asked the teacher for planning suggestions. Mr. Cui emphasized that language is the basic level. We should pay attention to English learning. We can also learn a European language, such as German, French and so on. If you are going to continue your PhD, the teacher suggests learning as many foreign languages as possible in addition to English. In the research field, the research fields in Hong Kong and abroad are more inclined to Western Marxism, which is different from that in China.
Song Tianqi from the 2021 grade ideological and political education major (publicly funded teacher training student) and Ma Siyan from the 2021 grade raised questions about "professional learning and teaching skills". Mr. Cui Weifeng thought that as a publicly funded teacher training student, besides the basic theoretical knowledge, the learning of teaching skills is also very important, and both are necessary abilities for a teacher. Students who have been trained in systematic teaching skills are generally more capable of teaching and can have a greater advantage in the interview.
Li Ziyi, from the 2021 grade of ideological and political education (non-publicly funded teacher training student), raised doubts about school life, "How should I reconcile my hobbies and professional studies?" Ms. Cui thinks that it is not a bad thing to have a wide range of hobbies, you can participate in some activities according to your interests to broaden your horizons, but as a student, professional study is fundamental, and Li's future plan is to go to graduate school, so it is more important to control the "degree" of participation in activities, focus on professional study, spend more time to read relevant books to improve their professional learning ability.
