In order to better understand the current situation of education in the hometown, firm the belief in teaching, and correctly establish good teachers' ethics and morality, during the winter vacation of 2022, 33 students joining the targeted teacher training plan in the School of Mathematics and Statistics went back to their hometowns to take part in the social practice of " Trace back the original aspiration in educating, share together the mission of excellent teaching". The activity was launched by interviewing the local education bureau staff, primary school teachers and other groups to learn the local school’s teaching practice, teacher resources, hardware and software facilities, etc.
During the interview, Wu Kunrui, principal of the Pozhai School in Fuwen Town, Ding’an County, Hainan province, who had spent decades on the grassroots education, shared his story, "I have been engaged in grassroots education for more than 20 years. My initial option of education was based on the choice of occupation and the stability. My final decision to stay in the countryside as a teacher was based on the passion of my profession and the sense of responsibility and mission to revitalize rural education."
Liu Tingting, a superior-grade teacher at Xingyi No.1 Middle school in Qianxi’nan state of Guizhou province, shared her feelings, "Finding students grow and improve with my help, I feel a great sense of accomplishment. Additionally, education is a protracted process. Besides teachers, the most important thing for any job is to keep calm."
In response to the implementation of the targeted teacher training plan, an official from Education and Sports Bureau in Tongbai County said in an interview, "In terms of the policy protection for the targeted teacher training plan, the Education and Sports Bureau in Tongbai County will provide good working and living conditions for the students participating in the targeted teacher training plan, effectively safeguard the input and output of them and their career development after graduation, providing the key support for their growth."
Through the interview, the students benefited a lot and deeply impressed. Yu Anhui said, "As a student of the plan, the time has given us new responsibilities and commitments. In the future, we will devote ourselves to the rural education and bring new vitality to it, though we have a long way to go in the vitalization of the compulsory education in rural areas. " Cai Zhiying said, "The path on the targeted teacher training plan shows that I will definitely stand on the podium in the future. The interview makes me look forward to my future a lot of becoming an excellent rural teacher and improving the quality of rural education with my own efforts." Lu Shirong said, “The interview has made me realize that the goal of our struggle should not be limited to a better life, and the purpose of our high-quality education is not to get rid of our poor hometown, but to free our hometown from poverty! At this moment I feel proud of registering for the targeted teacher training plan project!”
Education is a tree shaking a tree, a cloud to promote a cloud, a soul awaken another soul. Through this activity, students have a deeper understanding of the targeted teacher training plan, a more intuitive feeling of the rural education, and arouse a better awareness of the original mission of teaching.
