From January 20 to February 16, the team of online tutoring practice in winter vacation, named “we are guardians”, consisting of students from School of Mathematics and Statistics of CCNU, organized online tutoring activity in winter vacation for 25 days. The activity was carried out from series aspects involving studying tutoring, spreading the knowledge of Olympic Winter Games, psychological counseling, which was aimed at helping high school students solve problems by the way of answering questions online and achieve their own breakthrough and improvement taking advantage of their winter vacation, who had difficulties in study and had psychological burden.

After making recruited students to answer questionnaire and basically knowing students’ weak links and time schedule, the team arranged corresponding teammate to give daily coaching which took students’ questions as main part and was supplemented by volunteers explaining and sharing material according to the different situations of students. The teammates answered questions according to students’ weak links from January 25, whose length of tutoring was up to 50 hours with the answering times up to 200. Besides, volunteers also shared with students about learning material of related part collated by themselves, so as to achieve the learning outcome from points to face.
Volunteer Explains the Question for the Student
When communicating with student Zhang Yan, the volunteer knew that he was relatively weak in chemistry, which led to great pressure. As the National College Entrance Examination got closer, Zhang Yan couldn’t sleep at night and had a terrible studying efficiency and learning state. The volunteer suggested that Zhang Yan start from textbooks to strengthen the foundation knowledge and try great effort to learn every question, studied with Zhang Yan, reviewed chemistry knowledge together and shared with Zhang Yan about his story of preparing for the college entrance examination to encourage Zhang Yan. Zhang Yan’s insomnia symptoms has reduced, and her learning efficiency has increased greatly. She was determined to learn chemistry well, took CCNU as target to become an excellent teacher and help more people just like how volunteers helped her.
Volunteer Answers the Question for Zhang Yan
In addition to regular answering, the activity also kept pace with current affair, paid attention to Olympic Winter Games, made short videos, and recorded micro lectures, spreading the knowledge, stories and spirits of Olympic Winter Games to students, which was spoken highly of by students. Student Li Wen said that he appreciated Tian Linjie’s help very much. Not only did he have a good command of disciplinary knowledge from the video studying, but he learned more about underway Olympic Winter Games, studied knowledge and relaxed himself at the same time, and accumulated composition material as well.
Volunteers Share the Knowledge of Olympic Winter Games
Online tutoring activity in winter vacation of School of Mathematics and Statistics named “we are guardians” not only helped students solve problems, relieve pressure, and achieve self-improvement, but also provided an opportunity for volunteers to exercise themselves, improve the skills of normal students, guided volunteers to focus on Olympic Winter Games, pay attention to current affairs and strengthen consciousness of historical mission and sense of social responsibility.
